Hello there! My name is Lydia Joye, and although I have a wide variety of interests, I have a passion for birth work. I felt the call towards becoming a doula a few years ago when I lived in Washington. There came a time in 2021 when I felt it was time to pursue this interest, and oddly enough, a book I had kept with me from Washington - Penny Simkin's "The Birth Partner-" was the exact text required for my course through DONA International. It truly brings me joy helping people through this process and helping create the environment YOU desire. Birth can be empowering, and I'm here to help families advocate for the way in which they want to bring babies into this world.
-I love snowboarding, slacklining, yoga, hiking, climbing, and all things outdoors.
-I do the aerial silks, although I am definitely towards the beginning of that journey! In the summers you can catch me hanging off of a bridge by Dumont.
-I used to live in a bus and have traveled all over the southwest and up to Washington, mainly to rock climb in many different areas.
-I’ve been a climbing instructor, a preschool teacher, a nanny, a barista, a raft guide and a shed builder. Clearly I love to experience many things!
- I have a sweet little lab mix named Bodhi, who just turned two.
-It is my dream to study birth the world over, not just through all the reading I'm doing, but to travel and learn from indigenous cultures.
