Thinking about adding someone to your birth space?

Yeah, it's a big question to ask. Birth is intimate, and trust me, you want only the people you truly vibe with in that space with you. So, what's the point of adding a doula, especially when it's yet another cost?
A doula's role is to be a complete support person for you (the birthing person) and any partner you may have there with you, most likely the other parent. A doula's role is vast and wide, but a doula does not provide any medical services- including but not limited to- cervical checks, diagnosis, or interventions. A doula is there as all other forms of labor support. This may look like offering massage or different body positions, helping find new ways to cope with labor, helping you and your partner self-advocate when necessary, providing affirmations and helping you get through challenging moments, getting food and water in your system, and just being there with you energetically as you labor. Of course, this is just a quick snapshot of everything doulas provide; just know that you'll be supported in all the ways.

Before we jump into services, here's a little about me
I had felt quiet whispers for a while that I wanted to work in birth, and I eventually began my doula journey in 2021. I took the course offered through DONA International, which included segments on breastfeeding and newborn care in addition to labor and labor support. At the time I was living out in the mountains, so I found clients when I could and would drive down to meet them wherever they chose to birth (since there were no mountain resources!). Life took some turns a couple years later; I experienced a pregnancy loss and took a little hiatus from doula work. I got pregnant again in 2024 and birthed my son that September, a true gift (that's us on the front page). If you ever want to hear about his birth story, just ask! Now that he is a bit older, I'm ready to jump back into the birth world and offer education and support from all that I've learned and continue to absorb. There is ALWAYS more to learn, and I hope to continue this education and experience for a long time.
I enjoy snowboarding, hiking, yoga, biking, live music, craft or game nights with friends, and staying active at the gym and outdoors. I live in Golden with my incredible partner, our son, and our water-loving lab mutt, Bodhi.
